I describe myself as someone who wanders, drinks oat lattes, and watches Pride & Prejudice {Joe Wright, 2005} more than necessary.
As an avid film lover, I often try to bring my passion for cinema into my photographic work. When Sophie and I were choosing her outfit for this shoot, I kept imagining the scene in Joe Wright’s 2005 adaption of Pride & Prejudice when Keira Knightley’s Elizabeth Bennet walks into frame at the beginning of the film while reading. She’s in a sun drenched meadow lost in her book. It’s one of my favourite moments of the film because it gives us our first real taste of our heroine and it is something I strived to capture in this shoot.
“I cannot fix on the hour, or the spot, or the look or the words, which laid the foundation. It is too long ago. I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun.”
— Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice
